The demon city of Chaya is where this game takes place, nestled on the middle plane of existence with humans and monsters. Humans are not allowed to enter this city and it is hidden from their view, however monsters and demons can move freely in and out. The only exception to this rule has been Rukio who is half-human which is very rare and it is only because the council that governs the city have a lot of respect for his mother.

 The word Chāyā is hindi for shadow, therefore it is a city that resides in the shadows of the human world. It is one of the largest demon cities to reside on the middle plane. Many different monsters and demons of different backgrounds, orgins, and ranks live within it's barriers. A large job center and test center make up uptown while the marketplace makes up downtown, in between is all sorts of residences, shops, and much more.

 Chaya was modeled after cities like New York City and Boston but with the flair of magic deciding the construction of technology. Like most cities you will see various languages and signs posted around though demons usually speak in what's known as "common tongue" to understand each other, they can also speak languages from their orgins. Monsters tend to learn common tongue as well to make it easier to move around. Since humans and demons are mostly barred from interacting there are very few humans that would know common tongue.
